Are You Dreaming?

Charity Faith

[Act 2:16 NLT] 17 'In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

Have you allowed yourself to dream? Have you allowed the passion and burning in your heart to become a scenario in your Spirit? The Word of God says that we will dream dreams and have visions (Acts 2:16). Not just a nighttime dream (although those dreams are Biblical also) but a dream or vision in our heart that takes shape from a passion the Lord placed within that grows and burns and expands as we walk toward it. What would you dream if you allowed the eyes of your heart to see supernaturally; if you made space for the Lord to place a seed in your heart that grows as you continue to mature and find strength in Him; a dream that may require radical faith?

There was a point in my life that my dream to have a career and to get married and have children had come to pass and then I was stuck in my late 20’s going, What next? Thank you, Lord for what you’ve given me, but I know there is more. I couldn’t have told you what I wanted within the year, never mind having a 5- or 10-year plan. I honestly didn’t know what I wanted past family and career or what God wanted for me. As I matured in my relationship with Christ, I began to feel the pulling of the Holy Spirit within me to write. I had always been a writer, writing in my journal. At one time, I got a poem published, won a children’s writing contest, and even got published in my university school newspaper. But that season of university life through to motherhood when I was either studying, establishing my career, pregnant or had littles, it was hard to make space for it both timewise and in finding creative space. As I began to make it a priority again, it became my way of documenting conversations with God. I began to hear Him clearer as He spoke. A dream formed in my heart and He slowly gave me the words and the passion to write as I matured in my relationship with Him and began to crave to spend more time with Him through writing. My journal is a record of the working out of my faith and prayers answered, the things God placed in my heart that have come to pass. It records an unfolding of a burning desire to see others grow in their love for Christ and in the dreams that He has placed in their heart.

So, I challenge you today to allow yourself to tap into the Holy Spirit within and dream dreams that would require radical faith. Pay attention to the issues and topics that fire you up and the passions you had even from childhood. These are the seeds the Lord placed within you from before your very existence. Ask the Lord to grow a dream within you to pursue the things He’s made you passionate for. That is where radical faith is born and where transformation, both for you and for others abounds.

Spend some time today meditating on the verses below. Speak them over you. Ask the Lord to give you fresh vision and dreams to accomplish His work so that He can do exceeding abundant beyond what you could ask, think or imagine (Eph 3:20).

·       [Eph 2:10 NIV] 10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

·       [2Ti 2:19-21 NLT] 19 But God's truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: "The LORD knows those who are his," and "All who belong to the LORD must turn away from evil." 20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

·       [2Co 3:18 NLT] 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

·       [Jas 2:26 NLT] 26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

·       [Pro 3:5-6 NLT] 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

·       [Psa 139:13-18 NLT] 13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous--how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. 17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! 18 I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

·       [Pro 29:18 KJV] 18 Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.

Allow yourself to dream and watch how the Lord shapes it into the passions and purposes He created you to walk out in this life as you align yourself with Him.
